There are 3 Parkinson’s disease risk factors - toxic chemicals exposure (75%), traumatic brain injuries (5%) and genetics (13%) If you are still living in the same house, same daily routines and same job since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, you likely still being exposed to PD causing chemicals. Moving may not be in the cards. it would be wise to remove toxic chemicals from home and reduce air and water contaminates. Continued exposure will accelerate the progression of your Parkinson’s disease.
3 step plan Step 1: Remove toxic chemicals from home Safety tip: use Personal protective equipment (PPE) and dispose toxic products as directed by label. Dispose of all toxic product such as cleaning products, fragrances, craft supplies, pesticides and automotive. You usually find these chemicals in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, shed and garage. Download EWG’s Healthy Living phone app at https://www.ewg.org/apps/ and scan barcodes for more information on active ingredients. Replace cleaning products by making your own cleaning products using natural ingredients see attachment. Replace all plastic in kitchen. Plastic is not totally inert and leach varying levels of metals and chemicals into the foods they store if subjected to elevated temperatures. While plastics has proven useful in many applications, ever growing research shows that the human body load of most plastic components directly correlates with many chronic diseases. The high levels in humans of the chemicals associated with plastics is not surprising. Replace plastics with glass, stainless steel, silicone, and ceramic containers. Ceramic containers are the safest for food storage. They have the most heat resistance and do not leak toxins into your food. Glass is microwave-safe, toxin-free, and dishwasher-safe. Stainless steel is also toxin-free, dishwasher-safe, and oven-safe. Silicone containers are also non-toxic and do not leach off chemicals when heated in the microwave or oven. Ceramic containers are toxin-free, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.
Step 2: Filter Drinking water: Enter your zip code at https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/ If you want more precise information for your faucet water, submit faucet water to a testing lab for a battery of tests usually costs $300+. Your neighbors may share the costs. Filter kitchen drinking water using reverse osmosis water which removes 95%+ of 85+ contaminates. AquaTru Carafe in water and costs $375 on Amazon. One year supply of filters cost $90. Avoid Brita water purifiers. Brita only improves the flavor by reducing the chlorine taste and reduces lead. Avoid buying bottled water. Most bottled water sold in the U.S. is municipal tap water repackaged in plastic. Step 3 Purify Air Refresh indoor air by circulating fresh air daily for 15-30 minute every morning. Put an air purifier in the bedroom and one in the living room and run 24/7. Select an air purifier with a HEPA filter and is quiet. Shark BreatheClear MAX With NeverChange Air Purifier $250 at Costco.
OPTIONAL: Consider making an appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor and taking the Doctor’s Data “22 Essential Elements and 17 Heavy Metals Toxicity” test. It measures essential elements along with toxic elements. The test requires only 0.25 gm of hair and is quick and painless. It is available on Amazon for about $125.
